The Ventilator

I stood silently, by my bed
As God held my hand and caressed my head
I fought the fight, for so long
Till the end, i remained so strong

My last wishes, were very strong
No life support and she was gone
I told God, You thought it through
I was ready for something brand new

With a heavy heart, I agreed
The time had come, my wishes would heed
My life, would not be sustained
By the ventilator, she was disdained

As i said, my goodbye
The room filled with laughter as tears filled my eyes
I smiled big, while there she stood
I told her, Our love was good

With those last words, in the air
I drifted off to sleep, no longer aware
In my heart, there was pain
That forevermore will remain .
